London Design Festival - On Repeat x Head & Hands

  • On Repeat Pavillion 74 Rivington Street London, England, EC2A United Kingdom (map)

Join Amanda Wayne, founder of Head & Hands, as she talks about the relationship with mindfulness and making, and the therapeutic potential of slow, contemplative crafts.

Learn to craft an Ojo de Dios, a woven mandala made with yarn between wooden sticks. The practice of making an Ojo, is repetitive, grounding and meditative, crafting one is an excellent tool to quiet your mind and reconnect with yourself.

The On Repeat structure is slotted between two buildings on Rivington Street in east London, a hub of creative businesses.

"London-based Universal Design Studio teamed up with The Office Group, which designs flexible workspaces, to build the temporary structure for the design festival. It follows on from their previous collaborations on office spaces, and their own personal experience, which found that it was often difficult to produce ideas in hectic offices.

This repetitive task is intended to focus the brain and induce a state of mindfulness. It is mirrored in the repetitive nature of the pavilion's slatted timber walls.

On Repeat is open to the public for the duration of the London Design Festival, which runs until 24 September 2017. During this time it will also host a programme of activities, including pom-pom making, talks and meditation.

The pavilion forms part of the festival's Shoreditch Design Triangle, which celebrates the creative industry in east London." -Dezeen
